The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County, Virginia.

Welcome to The Meadow

For Real Virginia and other clips

The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County, Virginia, is rich in history and an adaptable event space. Located just minutes from Richmond and Fredericksburg, an easy drive from Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach and a straight shot from the D.C. area, The Meadow Event Park attracts guests from throughout the commonwealth.

Thoroughbred racing legend Secretariat was born here in 1970. Three years later he blazed his way into Triple Crown history. Today his birthplace is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. Narrated tours are given year-round by appointment.

Since then, The Meadow has transformed from a family farm to a multi-purpose venue that is home to the State Fair of Virginia and other notable events. The 331-acre property features a mixture of original structures and newly constructed facilities.

Horse Festival

The Virginia Horse Festival returns to The Meadow Event Park, March 24-26, 2017. This premier event for horse owners, riders and enthusiasts offers three days of shopping, seminars, demos and clinics.

New This Year: To celebrate Secretariat’s birthday, Meadow Hall tours will showcase the Chenery Collection of rare Meadow Stable memorabilia. Attendees also will have the opportunity to meet members of Secretariat’s original team. A special showing of Disney’s feature film Secretariat will include commentary from team members, as well as from jockey Otto Thorwarth, who played Secretariat jockey Ron Turcotte in the film.
