Development Staff
In 2006, SFVA launched a multi-year, philanthropic capital campaign to raise funds toward the construction of The Meadow Event Park. During the "silent" phase through 2008, SFVA raised over $8,000,000 from over 170 donors.
In 2009, we launched the public phase with the aim to reach $12 million goal in 2010.
This campaign is vital because…
- we serve 100,000 youth each year through the State Fair of Virginia and other events, and these young people deserve a beautiful, “green” setting for this venerable agricultural fair….
- we promote wholesome family values year-round through our events…
- the Meadow project is preserving open space in a rapidly developing part of central Virginia…
- the legend of Secretariat is a uniquely Virginia story that will be told in many ways at his birthplace, through our exhibits and events…
- after 60 years at the old fairgrounds on Laburnum Avenue in Richmond, The Meadow Event Park will launch “the next 60 years” of State Fair heritage.
Funds are used for construction of The Meadow Event Park.
