Welcome to The Meadow

The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County, Virginia, is rich in history and an adaptable event space. Located just minutes from Richmond and Fredericksburg, an easy drive from Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach and a straight shot from the D.C. area, The Meadow Event Park attracts guests from throughout the commonwealth.


Thoroughbred racing legend Secretariat was born here in 1970. Three years later he blazed his way into Triple Crown history. Today his birthplace is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. Narrated tours are given year-round by appointment.

Since then, The Meadow has transformed from a family farm to a multi-purpose venue that is home to the State Fair of Virginia and other notable events. The 331-acre property features a mixture of original structures and newly constructed facilities.

Secretariat 50th Birthday Celebration March 28, 2020

On March 28, 2020, Secretariat’s birthplace, now known as The Meadow Event Park, will be the site of the official celebration honoring the immortal champion’s 50th birthday and his enduring legacy.  here will be a half-day program priced for families, as well as a full-day program that will include a cocktail reception, special presentations and a champagne toast at Secretariat’s foaling shed. Virginia Farm Festival

Virginia Farm Festival May 2-3, 2020

New in 2020, The Meadow Event Park welcomes the Virginia Farm Festival. A two-day event filled with family friendly activities, farm animals, agriculture and good old fashioned fun on the farm. Children 12 and under are free. Find additional details HERE.
